Tunisia-Kef: 2 fires ignite at Mountains Kcheirida and Balout

Two fires ravaged in Mountain Kcheirida in Eastern  Kef and Mountain Ballout in Nebeur delegation.

Speaking to Shems FM, director of  Kef Forest Department Omar Ferchichi said that the two fires destroyed an important area of forest trees, and if it wasn’t for the concerted efforts of forestry agents and civil protection workers in Kef, the losses would have been greater, as more than 600 hectares of forest areas evaded the fire.

The same source added that 10 firefighting trucks and more than 40 workers have been dispatched to extinguish the fire, the effort still continues to bring it under control in order to start the cooling process.

For its part, the security forces in Kef arrested a number of suspects for interrogation after they were seen in a drinking gathering in the same place from which the first spark of the fire broke out, especially as they set fire to barbecue meat.
