The Libyan Ministry of the Interior revealed, Thursday, April 4, 2024, that the common security room set by the decision of the Minister of the Interior in charge of the Ras Jedir border post was received by the general staff general of the Libyan army.
The Law Enforcement Department of the General Administration of Security Operations started its functions, taking charge of the complete crossing, on the orders of the designated Minister of the Interior, in order to organize and make the required arrangements for its reopening.
During his meeting with ministry officials, Wednesday March 20, 2024, the minister confirmed that the Ras Jedir crossing will solely be opened when it has returned to the authority of the State and under the authority of the law .
The Ras Jedir crossing was shut in both directions after an exchange of fire on the Libyan side between militia groups.
A report on the closure of the Ras Jedir crossing was disseminated to the Libyan side through a memorandum issued by the Minister of Interior, and a Libyan security inquiry was opened into the events leading to the injury of several members of the security forces and a Libyan citizen.
