Tunisia- Minister of Sports does not accept the blackmail of the FTF

Interviewed by the Tunisian National Radio this Tuesday morning, the Tunisian Minister of Youth and Sports, Kamal Degguiche, assured that it is the FTF that has decided to no longer broadcast professional Ligue 1 matches. The minister first identified that “the FTF is a public service establishment connected to international structures, and is not an institution governed by its president. If we desire to achieve the public interest, we all have to compromise, but unfortunately, when we have no choice of reaching a solution and we utilise international bodies as a scarecrow, we reach the situation we are in reached our days. However, as a ministry, we will do everything in our power to permit Tunisian citizens to have the right to watch matches on national TV.”

He adds: “The Tunisian sports public has the right to watch the Tunisian championship on the official channel, and the Tunisian Federation has a margin by which it can make a deal with the official television within the limits of the possibilities because we all know the financial difficulties. that crosses the country”. Degguiche continued on the problem of Ligue 1 clubs and the CNSS: “the FTF sent us a letter in order to interfere for the benefit of the clubs with the National Social Security Fund because we requested for the help of the clubs, so why doesn’t the FTF understand the current state of national TV and delay earnings until the national interest demands it? We were interfering in the social security file, but within the limits of the state budget, which is going through problems, and therefore it cannot stipulate things against the national interest, and this is considered unpatriotic behaviour”.

Finally, he emphasised that “the Ministry of Sports represents the Tunisian state and citizen, and we will not permit the process of blackmail”.
