Tunisia-Ministry of the Interior: terrorist attack foiled

The Ministry of the Interior revealed today that the anti-terrorist unit under the National Guard succeeded in apprehending a 22-year-old girl on January 10, 2022, at Tunis-Carthage airport.

Stating that the incarcerated girl was from Turkey, the ministry stated that the latter was in Syria where she joined a terrorist group.

According to the inquiries that have been carried out by the competent authorities, the arrested girl confirmed that she went to Turkey in 2020 adding that she was trained to organize a terrorist attack.

“The girl involved was preparing a terrorist operation in one of the tourist areas of the nation and was in contact with a Tunisian who was to supply her with an explosive belt. The latter was jailed following his involvement in terrorist attacks targeting senior state officials last year.

The ministry added that the arrested girl was brought before the public prosecutor’s office at the counter-terrorism judicial pole which issued an aarrest warrant against her.
