Tunisia-Mohamed Louzir (CCITF): new chapter in promotion of Tunisian economy is necessary (Video)

The Tunisian French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCITF) organized a seminar in Tunis to present the 2024 finance law under the theme “2024 finance law; What influence on the company?” The goal was to examine the accomplishments of 2023 presented in the amending finance law of 2023 and the main measures for 2024.

Mohamed Louzir, Secretary General of the CCITF, shared his thoughts on the effect of the finance law on businesses. He noted that 2023 was a year of resilience without notable growth, with the state concentrating on social transfers for vulnerable categories. Louzir underscored the state’s dependence on domestic borrowing, leading to a drying up of liquidity in the local market and restricting credits for local investment, impacting overall growth.

Concerning tax incentives, Louzir remarked that the pressure to increase tax revenues hampered the provision of incentives to investors. He cited challenges such as high inflation, costly bank credit interest rates, and weak tax incentives, which created an environment less attractive to new foreign investors.

Louzir stressed the necessity for a new approach to promote the Tunisian economy, considering the current climate unfavourable to new investments.
