The “Mourakiboun” network said Wednesday against the amendment of the current electoral law in case of reorganization of legislative elections.
“Any amendment is contrary to international standards that recommend the non-amendment of the electoral law and the voting system during the election year (recommendations of the Venice Commission),” Mourakiboun said in a statement. The “Mourakiboun” network also called on parliament and civil society to oppose any attempt to amend the law in 2020. This call comes against the backdrop of the tabling of a draft organic law amending the organic law of May 26, 2014 on elections and referendums. The draft proposed by Ennahdha movement MPs provides for the increase of the electoral threshold to 5% during legislative elections. |
