Tunisia-Nabil Ammar meets with Cuban and Brazilian counterparts

On the occasion of his visit to Kampala, Uganda, to partake in the third Southern Summit of the Group of 77 plus China, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar held a series of meetings with several heads of participating delegations.

In this context, he had a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parilla, who focused on the historical ties between the two nations and the opportunities to strengthen bilateral collaboration in areas in which the two countries have comparative advantages. , like the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the issues on the Summit agenda. On this occasion, the Head of Diplomacy expressed to his Cuban counterpart Tunisia’s appreciation for the efforts made by his country during its presidency of the Group of 77 to defend the concerns and interests of Tunisia and the countries of the South in various UN deadlines.

For his part, the Cuban Minister renewed recognition of Tunisia for its participation in the recent Havana Summit and its continued support for the resolutions of the UN  General Assembly calling for an end to the blockade inflicted on his country.

The two sides also examined the war against Gaza and deplored the failure of the international community and the UN mechanisms to put an end to the aggression and crimes to which the Palestinian people have been victims for more than 100 days and to the violation continuation of international humanitarian law and the Charter of the United Nations, viewing that the selectivity and application of the policy of “double standards” in the treatment of these attacks endanger to undermine the system of values ​​and principles on which the United Nations was founded.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Parilla invited his Tunisian counterpart to make a working visit to Cuba during the following period to continue consultations on strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

In the same context, the Minister had a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, during which both parties voiced their desire to give new impetus to the long-standing relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, notably via the exchange of visits, the activation of consultation mechanisms and the exploitation of economic partnership opportunities.

The two Ministers also discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East and the necessity to intensify international efforts to stop the attack on Gaza and end the occupation.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Minister Ammar also had contacts with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, and with the Special Envoy of His Highness the Amir of the State from Kuwait, Tariq Mohammed Al-Bannai.
