Tunisia-Nice attack: French Interior Minister to visit Tunisia

French Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin will be travelling to Tunisia at the end of the week to meet his counterpart Taoufik Charfeddine, following the Nice attack that was perpetrated by a Tunisian who arrived illegally in France, the “Parisien” newspaper reported.

This decision was taken after a telephone exchange on Saturday between Emmanuel Macron and the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed. The latter expressed a message of “solidarity” to the families of the victims and he made a commitment to France to facilitate the granting of consular passes.

For the French government, this means being capable to remove from French territory several S files of Tunisian origin, staying illegally in France. Le Parisien noted in this context that the countries of origin usually refuse to grant this document to the deportees.

On October 13, Darmanin said he desired to speed up the escorts to the border: “There are still […] 231 people today that we must deport, who are in an irregular situation and followed for suspicion of radicalization”, he declared. in front of the press.
