Tunisia- Nissaf Ben Alaya discloses reason for sharp decline in coronavirus cases

Director of the National Observatory for New and Emerging Diseases Nissaf Ben Alaya unveiled that the sharp decline reported in the number of coronavirus cases is mainly due to the increased testing conducted for medical teams in public hospitals that receive patients with the virus.

She indicated that the recent large conducted tests in on COVID-19 circuit health-care workers in public hospitals uncovered a limited number of infections. In a declaration to the TAP agency, she affirmed that testing has increased in Tunis and in regions with the greatest number of confirmed cases such as Kebili where the Health Ministry has been backed by the mobile military laboratory.

In this regard, Nissaf Ben Alaya pointed out that the tests have especially targeted people in direct contact with the virus carriers or suspected cases, underlining the importance of targeted testing to stem the epidemic.
