Tunisia-Over 2,500 new cases of breast cancer detected each year in Tunisia

More than 2,500 new cases of breast cancer are promptly reported each year in Tunisia, announced  executive president of the Tunisian Association for Assistance to Breast Cancer Patients Dr .Khaled Rahal.
In an official statement to the TAP agency, he foretells that this figure will rise to approximately 4,000 new cases across the next five years. He justly estimated that enhanced awareness-raising campaigns can powerfully aid in decreasing  the number of new cases and halt deaths at a rate of 100%, through early detection but also by evading the roots of the preventable disease, including smoking, alcohol consumption and late childbearing.
During an awareness event organised by the local association, at El Menzah 6 youth cultural and sports complex (Ariana governorate) in the context of pink October, Dr Rahal. stated that “scientific and technological advancement has generously assisted to discover adequate breast cancer care mechanisms including genetic examination procedures to find out the root causes for the disease, especially since 5% of the cases are hereditary.”

He pointed out that the size of the tumour at the time of its discovery, measured 7 cm, in the 1970s, while currently, it measures 3.5 cm, which remains an encouraging sign in care.
