Tunisia-PM Bouden :Positive steps made in spite of gov’t taking office in extremely difficult situation

Positive steps were made in spite of the government taking office last October amid an extremely difficult situation, said Premier Najla Bouden.

Tunisia managed to repay domestic and external debt, pay salaries on time and provide basic commodities and tackle smuggling, Bouden further said at a ceremony held Saturday to commemorate Labour Day.

This in addition to a minimum welfare provision and an acceptable level of foreign exchange reserves, the Prime Minister highlighted.

The government demonstrated flexibility in responding to various challenges. Tunisia showed ability to address difficulties if national forces rally around shared goals, Bouden underlined. Winning the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is the best illustration of this.
