Prime minister Hichem Mechcihi attended and delivered a eulogy at the funeral of former health minister Saâdeddine Zmerli.
Urologist, Saâdeddine Zmerli, occupied the post of Minister of Health between July 1988 and April 1989, in the government of Hédi Baccouche
He is a founding member of the Tunisian League of Human Rights (LTDH), of which he was the first president for four terms, from May 7, 1977, to February 14, 1982.
Zmerli played an outstanding role in the creation, in 1973, of the urology department at Charles-Nicolle Hospital in Tunis, where he succeeded with a medical team in performing the first kidney transplant at the Maghreb level, in 1986.
