The criminal chamber specializing in terrorism cases of the Court of First Instance of Tunis, has decided to delay the hearing of the trial in the case of the assassination of martyr Chokri Belaid until next Friday, March 22, to finish the pleadings, based on the defendants’ request, according to what was reported by a member of the defence team of those responsible for personal rights, Ghassan Gheribi.
The morning session of the trial, which was held today, Tuesday, was dedicated to listening to the defence arguments of the accused in this case.
The number of defendants in this case is 23, including 6 at large and the rest in custody.
All defendants in this case, whether apprehended or at large, were present at today’s hearing, except defendants Ezzedine Abdellaoui, Mohamed Amin Al-Gasmi, Ahmed Al-Maliki, Mohamed Omari and Ahmed Al-Awadi, who were taken from their jail in Mornaguia, but they declined to appear in court.
The criminal chamber responsible for terrorism cases at the Court of First Instance of Tunisia decided, during the hearing of the trial held Friday March 15, to devote today’s hearing, Tuesday March 19, to the completion of the pleadings of the attorneys of the accused in the context of the case for which the chamber started its hearings on February 6, 2024.
