Tunisia – Escape from court of detainees in Belaïd case: Denial from prosecution

The first deputy of the attorney general at the anti-terrorism judicial pole, Aymen Chtiba, rejected, in a statement to the press, that any accused in the case of the assassination of martyr Chokri Belaid had fled from the court, as was been reported by some sites.

He said: “There are no absconding accused in the Chokri Belaid case. Some defendants are in detention and others are at large.”

The first deputy attorney general estimated that the publication of wrong news would harm the confidence of the judiciary and the credibility of the court and the decisions it gives.

It should be reported that the Al-Chaab News website, affiliated with the UGTT, published information remarking that: “The reasons for the delay in pronouncing the judgment are linked to the escape of 7 accused in the martyr’s case Chokri Belaid, from the court. »
