Tunisia: President Kais Saied calls for strict application of law and fight against impunity

President Kais Saied met with Leila Jaffel, Minister of Justice, to examine urgent judicial reforms needed in the country.

The President insisted on the necessity to apply the law equally to all, underscoring the significance of speeding up the processing of pending legal cases, often delayed by endless procedures.

A war for freedom and justice:

President Saied recollected that Tunisia is engaged in a “war of liberation” based on the principles of freedom and justice, and the imperative to enforce the law. He voiced his intransigence towards those who believe they are above the law, asserting that no affiliation, whether national or international, can justify reprehensible acts.

Fight against impunity:

The Head of State also stressed the imperative to fight against impunity and called on the Minister of Justice to initiate legal proceedings, in complete respect of the law, against those who seek refuge. abroad or are manipulated by lobbies hostile to the interests of the Tunisian people. These groups sometimes attempt to position themselves as victims while inflicting harm on the nation.

Freedom versus chaos:

Finally, Kais Saied underlined that freedom, in all nations of the world, does not mean chaos or escape from justice. He insisted on the importance of a robust and impartial judicial system to ensure public order and respect for the rights of all citizens.
