Tunisia-President Kais Saied reaffirms Tunisia’s firm position regarding Palestinian cause

President Kais Saied reaffirmed Tunisia’s solid Stance concerning the Palestinian cause and revealed his powerful belief in a future recovery of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, stating “such rights, which are no commodity or stock exchange shares, cannot be the recipient of a deal settled by interests and desires”.
The President added that the Palestinian rights will not be wasted as long as there are free people as he met on Wednesday at the Carthage Palace, with Palestinian Ambassador to Tunisia Hayel Fahoum.
He also stated that “we do not intervene in the decisions of other states, nor do we confront them. We fully respect the will of other states, as they are free in the choices they make before their own people. Nevertheless, we also have our own positions, which we communicate freely, away from issuing statements to condemn this or that position.”
President Saied also pointed out that it is contradictory for some people to condemn something simultaneously with its opposition.
The Head of State repeated Tunisia’s constant support to the Palestinians to cease the injustices they are facing and recover their stolen rights, warning that defeatism is more dangerous than the defeat itself. He also emphasised that Palestine can represent a message of peace when it regains its rights and establishes its own state under international law.
The President welcomed the united positions expressed by the diverse members of the Palestinian leadership, stating his hope that all Palestinians would overcome their differences and divisions in a way which would help serve their goal, the “mother cause” which shall continue a central issue for all free people across the world.
For his part, Ambassador Hayel Fahoum carried greetings from President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership to President Kais Saied, maintaining Palestine’s appreciation of the Tunisian government and people’s firm and sensible positions and absolute support to the Palestinian cause.
Ambassador Hayel Fahoum also added that Tunisia has proved its firm position with concrete action, not only with words, stating that Tunisia is not only a supporter but an active partner in the struggle to regain the rights of the Palestinian people, according to the statement.
