Tunisia-President Saïed receives a delegation from the US Senate

President of the Republic Kais Saied welcomed this Saturday, September 4, 2021, a delegation from the US Senate that includes Senators Chris Murphy and Jon Ossoff. The head of state confirmed that the exceptional measures adopted on July 25, 2021, come within the framework of complete respect for the Constitution, contrary to fake allegations.

He stressed that these decisions reflect the broad popular will and aim to shield the Tunisian state from attempted destruction. The meeting was an occasion to renew the will for cooperation and strengthening of historic relationships between Tunisia and the United States of America.

It was additionally an opportunity to confirm that the two nations share the same values of freedom, equality and democracy in addition to respect for the principles of human rights, the freedom of peoples and their power, respect for the Constitution and international conventions and the battle against corruption.
