Tunisia-Saïed: causes of shortages and the rise in prices

President of the Republic, Kais Saïed, revealed, this Tuesday, February 14, 2023, that the last detentions took place in order to pursue the involved in crimes against the people.

The Head of State clarified, during a meeting, at  Carthage palace, with the Minister of Commerce, Kalthoum Ben Jejab, only 5% of agricultural goods enter the wholesale market. The other quantities are robbed by criminals, he added.

The president noted that smuggling impacts not only basic products but also medicines and that criminals will be prosecuted by law.

“The criminals have teamed up with the involved in crimes of involvement in the interior security of the State. The criminal is only obeying the orders of the latter. They are implicated directly in the shortages of basic products and in the rise of prices and there is evidence that supports our statements … Those who master the distribution circuits are warned, because they will be prosecuted, in accordance with the law and without exception ».
