The security units under the National Guard district in Sfax managed this Friday, November 27, 2020, in rescuing 45 illegal migrants 60 km from the coast of Sfax, Shems FM reports. The immigrants are composed of 24 men, 19 women and two infants.
According to the primary elements citing a security source, the boat transporting the migrants was on the verge to be capsized following a water leak. The majority of migrants are of sub-Saharan origin; Cameroonians, Ivorians, Malians, Senegalese etc.
After consultation with the public prosecutor, they were ordered to be kept in custody pending the necessary legal measures against them.
