The extensive executive committee of the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) voted Tuesday to call a general strike to condemn the cabinet policy towards the media sector. The date of the strike will be declared at a later due .
Following a meeting today, November 10 2020, the committee additionally decided to observe a day of national anger and stage a demonstration rally in Kasbah Square and a sit-in outside the Government Palace .The dates of these demonstrations will be fixed by the executive board, the Union announced in a statement.
According to the SNJT, the Prime Ministry has not honoured its engagements to the media.
It proceeds to carry out a policy of “procrastination” and “prevarication” in the face of the “legitimate” rights of journalists, condemned the union.
It mentioned, in particular, the non-publication in the official Gazette of the framework agreement of the sector professionals.
