Tunisia-Spain to forcibly deports 600 Tunisian immigrants

The Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights “FTDES” asserted that Spanish interior minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has announced that his country is planning to forcibly deport 600 Tunisian migrants from Ceti Melilla Immigration Detention Center with the full collaboration of the Tunisian Embassy in Madrid.

The FTDES director Abd al-Rahman al-Hadhili said that it was better for Marlaska to apologize for the migrants’ arbitrary detention for many months and risking their lives during the last period by neglecting the implementation of the recommendations of the World Health Organization. He said that they were further detained in inhuman and humiliating conditions in a centre that exceed its capacity and by placing them in conditions that threatened their life with the absence of preventive measures.

On the other hand, he welcomed the position of the Spanish human rights and trade union organizations that firmly refuses the violation of the rights of migrants. He also called for a resolution that preserves the dignity of migrants and upholds human rights and international treaties.
