Tunisia-Taïeb Bayahi:2022 Finance Act is unrealistic

The finance law for the year 2022 remains unrealistic compared to the changes taking place at the global level and contains many contradictions in the assumptions on which it was adopted, President of the Arab Institute of Business Leaders (IACE), Taïeb Bayahi told the TAP agency.
“The 2022 Financial Law cannot play an incentive role for companies, especially with the constraints it contains and the lack of clarity that would allow reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF),” Bayahi said.

He told the agency that a reading of the 2022 Finance Law, highlights five errors that are repeated in each draft finance law and calls into question their credibility. The first error is the lack of precision in the assumptions used in its elaboration, which requires the adoption of objective assumptions based on acceptable and clear forecasts in order to reduce the margin of error between these assumptions and the actual results.
For Bayahi, the second error is the contradiction between the 2022 Financial Law and the reform programme announced with the IMF.
Among other elements, he cited the degree of credibility and effectiveness of the measures taken in identifying the sources of external debt and support for ailing companies, in addition to the lack of evaluation of potential risks.
