Second deputy Speaker of The House of People’s Representatives “HPR” Tarak Ftiti affirmed that if the launchers of the censure motion against House speaker Rached Ghannouchi succeed in collecting 108 votes, he will sign the motion so that they can reach the 109 required by the Rules of Procedure.
He emphasised that the removal of confidence in the presidency of Parliament is a democratic mechanism given for by law and that accordingly the rules of the game must be upheld by all, despite the results.
“As Second deputy Speaker the parliament, I must always stay objective because it would be unethical to choose one of the two sides”, he revealed, adding that despite this he had signed the first motion of censorship against Rached Ghannouchi “out of devotion to democracy”.
