Tunisia-The national reform program is rejected by the UGTT

The Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) refuses the national reform program presented by the administration, according to statements by its deputy secretary-general Slaheddine Selmi. The latter explains this decision by the group of austerity measures which require the elimination of compensation and the disavowal of the agreements of a wage increase of the agents of the public sector and the civil service.

In this sense, the trade union centre categorically rejects the abolition of compensation for the middle class, while the government proposes to rationalize financial aid by restricting it to needy families. Slaheddine Selmi likewise recalled that the trade union centre was not consulted directly or indirectly during the preparation and development of the national reform program.
