The spokesperson for the Independent High Authority for Elections, Mohamed Tlili Mansri, disclosed on Monday, December 25, 2023, that the announcement of the preliminary results of the local elections will proceed as scheduled. They are set to be unveiled either tomorrow, Tuesday or at the latest, by Wednesday. The ISIE will make efforts to ensure accuracy by waiting to verify the results.
Concerning the final results ,Mansri announced that they will be provisionally disclosed on January 27, 2024. Additionally, the second round of local elections is slated to be organized in the first half of February 2024.
Discussing the participation rate, which stood at around 11.66%, Mansri informed Mosaique FM that the ISIE accurately reported the contents of the ballot boxes. He revealed that the percentage closely mirrors the participation rate in the legislative elections. In the same context, he underscored the necessity of conducting comprehensive practical studies to analyze the reasons behind these low percentages, particularly regarding the participation of women and young people, as per his assessment.
Mansri emphasized that the initial observations regarding the reluctance to participate in the elections indicate that the Tunisian voter is primarily interested in major national events, such as the presidential election, for example.
