Tunisia-Tunisia and US expresses intent to boost bilateral trade and investment

The U.S.-Tunisia Joint Economic Commission (JEC) officially held its third session in the presence of Minister of Trade Omar Béhi and U.S. Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Joseph Semsar. During the meeting, both parties expressed a deep commitment to seek initiatives to advance bilateral trade and investment between Tunisia and the United States.

The two commissions addressed possibilities for enhanced commercial engagement in telecommunications and infrastructure, Tunisia’s endeavours to serve as a hub for U.S. companies in Africa, reformations to the business climate that would assist draw U.S. investment, and Tunisia’s macroeconomic outlook and external financing needs.

Moreover,Minister Béhi and Acting Under Secretary Semsar approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on commercial collaboration. The MOU is designed to serve as a foundation to improve bilateral aims to attract U.S. investment in four fundamental areas in Tunisia: information and communications technology; agribusiness; design, engineering, and construction; and renewable energy.
