Tunisia-Tunisia calls on international community to force Israel to abandon its annexation plans

Tunisia on Wednesday called on the international community and international organisations to take urgent step to force Israel to opt for peace and forsake its annexation plans, the TAP reported.
Speaking on Wednesday at an Open-Ended Virtual Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Noureddine Erray called on the international community and international organisations to assume their responsibilities towards the Palestinian people and their righteous cause amid the seriousness of the situation and the intransigence of the Israeli occupier.
The Minister urged Tunisia’s partners and donors to support the efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to protect their rights of return and put an end to the displacement of the brotherly Palestinian people.
Based on the bonds of brotherhood between the Tunisian and Palestinian peoples and taking into account the position it holds as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, Tunisia will continue to support Palestinian mobilisation within the United Nations and particularly in the Security Council to impose respect for international legality and related resolutions, the Minister said.
Noureddine Erray also affirmed Tunisia’s rejection of the unilateral annexation plans, which constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the 1949 Geneva Convention.
“Defending Arab causes and just humanitarian issues is at the heart of Tunisia’s foreign policy priorities,” the foreign minister said.
He recalled the positions of President Kais Saied, who has repeatedly urged defending Palestinian rights as inalienable rights.
