Tunisia-Tunisia participates in meeting of Berlin Conference Follow-up Committee on Libya

Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and acting Foreign Minister Sabri Bachtobji headed the Tunisian delegation to the meeting of the Berlin Conference Follow-up Committee on Libya held on Sunday in Munich.

The meeting focused on international and regional efforts to stabilise the ceasefire and resume the political process in Libya under the auspices of the United Nations.

The acting FM delivered remarks highlighting Tunisia’s call upon the countries participating in the meeting and the international community in general to pool efforts to advance the process of political settlement emanating from the Berlin Conference and endorse a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis.

He also urged working to consolidate the cease-fire that is still witnessing numerous violations and speed up the return to the political settlement process under the UN umbrella and within the framework of an inter-Libyan dialogue including all Libyan parties without exclusion.

He pointed to the most prominent initiatives taken by Tunisia, in coordination with the neighbouring countries in order to involve all Libyan parties in launching the political settlement process and ending up with organising a national reconciliation conference.

Sabri Bachtobji also stressed Tunisia’s concern to join all the work teams that will be formed later in the framework of following up the Berlin process, which will include political, security, economic and humanitarian axes.
