Tunisia-Tunisia to participate in the Security Council’s vote for non-permanent members

In an official press release issued by the ministry of the Interior, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Khemaies Jhinaoui will be carrying out a working visit to New York. In order to attend the UN General Assembly vote on the election of new non-permanent members for the UN Security Council for the period of 2020-2021. The minister visit will last from the 7th to the 11th of June.

It is justly expected that the Minister of Foreign Affairs will carry out proper consultations with UN senior officials and official representatives of the permanent members of the Security Council, in order to review Tunisia key priorities during its possible term of office and the active role it will play within the council.

Tunisia is eagerly seeking to join the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member for the fourth time in its history. Tunisia will be working on solidifying its role on matters relating to the peaceful settlement of disputes, enhancement of women and youth status, promotion of international development and security, combating terrorism and addressing global challenges.
