UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash, promptly took to Twitter to sincerely congratulate Tunisia on its successful election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. The UAE minister also expressed his earnest wishes for Tunisia diplomatic success in regional and international forums.
Tunisia was elected on Friday as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the period 2020-2021, after obtaining 191 votes. Other countries to be elected are Estonia, Niger, Vietnam, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Beginning their term on 1st of January, The five elected countries will replace Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Kuwait, Peru and Poland, whose terms end on the 31st of December, 2019.
