Tunisia-UGTT asserts to be unaware what the government is negotiating with IMF

Deputy Secretary General and spokesperson for the Tunisian Labor General Union (UGTT), Sami Tahri, stated that the UGTT is unaware and ignores what the government is currently negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He told Shems FM, this Friday, October 14, 2022, that “nobody in Tunisia knows what the government discusses with the IMF”, adding that the core of the reforms that will be committed is “a point of divergence between the ‘UGTT and the government ”.

Tahri said that the  UGTT is “favourable to reforms, but not as the administration understands”.”The UGTT has claimed in-depth, lenient and fair tax reforms, oriented towards saving of the country and not painful measures as the government announces”,he adds
