Tunisia-[Video]: Owners of individual taxis begin sit-in in Beja

Owners of individual taxis assembled again this Friday, February 26, 2021, in front of the governorate headquarters in Beja, to begin an open sit-in for acquiring licenses.
Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, One of the demonstrators stated that in addition to the demand for licensing, they are asking for the reorganization of the sector by dismissing intruders, those who have licenses without having the right to do so.
The speaker emphasised that every time they come to oppose, the governor comforts them that they will begin a campaign to withdraw licenses from those who do not have the right to them however this is never implemented.
Protesters are denouncing that people who have never exercised the profession have taxi licenses when they are refused for professionals in the sector, urging for this contradiction to be explained. They say there are people with licenses who have other income, either a pension, working abroad or in some other occupation, asking regional authorities to check these allegations.
The protesters said they were resolved to remain in a sit-in outside the governorate headquarters till a solution was obtained and their demands were met. They reported that they have at least ten years of experience as a taxi driver and so far have not been licensed.
