Tunisia [Video]: Vaccination operation in Mahdia

With an enormous influx of people, the coronavirus vaccination campaign continues this Friday, April 16, 2021, in the regional centre in Mahdia.

The centre is seeing a  long queue of people at the entrance before entering inside to verify the enrollment and receive their vaccine

The head of the regional vaccination centre in Mahdia, Dr Mahjoub, declared that the influx of people is between 70 and 75% of those registered, assuring that 7,000 people have already received the vaccine, which constitutes a low number.

He said the Mahdia has 440,000 people and necessitates 200,000 people to register for the campaign to succeed.

He stated that another vaccination centre will see the light in El Jem to relieve the pressure on this centre and bring services closer to citizens and avoid lengthy journeys.

He also  urged those registered to respect the appointments to avoid delays which can be several weeks.

He called on citizens to inform their neighbours about the vaccination procedures to arrive at the centre with an idea of how to get vaccinated.

Regarding the safety of the vaccine, he emphasised that after 35 days of the campaign no accidents or severe side effects were documented, assuring that fever and other mild symptoms will disappear immediately.

Another member of the regional centre deplored the lack of volunteers to assist them to organize ranks outside the centre, stating that the Mahdia Red Crescent scouts and teams have not been consistent.

The head of the centre called on civil society and any volunteer citizen to help the centre in order to make this vaccination campaign a success.
