Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus commended the efforts exerted by the Tunisian medical team, who had flown to Syria to help the victims of February 6th violent earthquake in Turkey and Syria killing over 33.000 people and leaving millions homeless. The WHO official met Monday with the Tunisian mission members during his visit to the Syrian city of Aleppo to assess the scale of the disaster, during which he launched a call to raise $43 million to support the earthquake relief effort in Syria and Turkey. Tunisia had sent 3 planes to Syria and Turkey loaded with emergency humanitarian aid (28 tonnes of food stuff, drugs, infant formula, blankets and clothes) provided by State institutions, including the Tunisian Union for Social Solidarity and the Tunisian Red Crescent. |
