UN halts movements in Gaza at night for 48 hours

United Nations spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Wednesday at a press briefing that the agency had halted all movements in the Gaza Strip at night for at least 48 hours to evaluate the security after an Israeli strike killed several World Central Kitchen staff.

“We need to have a better system. We are pushing with the Israelis to do that. Whenever there is any security incident anywhere around the world we often do a pause to reassess what we can do while keeping our people safe but also while keeping those who receive the aid safe,” Dujarric mentioned. He remarked that since October 7, 196 humanitarian workers have been killed.

“We want to see an end to this conflict immediately, we want a humanitarian ceasefire,” he stressed. The suspension of movement started on April 2 and will last through tonight as well.
