US Congress members bash S. Africa’s case against Israel

United States Congress members signed a letter addressed to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken bashing South Africa’s genocide case against Israel before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Some 210 members of Congress signed the bipartisan letter, denouncing South Africa’s “deeply hostile stance” toward Israel, and urged Blinken to do the same. The letter said that the case is “grossly unfounded,” and went on to criticize Pretoria for trying to “demonize the Jewish state,” while barely paying any mind to the October 7 attack executed by Hamas.

The officials stressed they believe in Israel’s right to defend itself and expressed their “disgust” with the filing. They also rejected Pretoria’s charge of genocide and concluded the letter by urging Blinken to “offer Israel all appropriate support in opposing the South African application to the ICJ.”
