Yellen: US to put forward candidate to lead World Bank

United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Wednesday said the government will nominate a candidate to lead the World Bank Group, following the resignation of the Bank Group’s President David Malpass, who concluded his chairmanship before the end of the term.

“The world has benefitted from his strong support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s illegal and unprovoked invasion, his vital work to assist the Afghan people, and his commitment to helping low-income countries achieve debt sustainability through debt reduction,” Yellen said in the statement.
