A 6.4-magnitude earthquake shook the ground of southern Japan on Tuesday, with the epicenter hitting the Bungosuido Channel, a strait separating the Japanese islands of Kyushu and Shikoku.
The tremor is reported to have struck at a depth of 50 kilometers, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported. The seismic activity was measured using the JMA intensity scale, with category 7 tremors representing the most powerful earthquake.
