At least 68 killed in Nepal’s air crash

At least 68 people died when an ATR-72 plane crashed in central Nepal on Sunday, officials announced.

The Yeti Airlines flight crashed while attempting to land at an airport in the town of Pokhara, according to local authorities. There were 72 passengers aboard the aircraft, four of which were members of the crew. Fifty-three of the passengers and all crew members were Nepali.

“I sincerely appeal to the security personnel, all agencies of the Nepal government and the general public to start an effective rescue,” Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said after the crash.
