European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday that Ukraine “belongs” in the bloc as she welcomed the country’s, President Volodymyr Zelensky to Brussels, where he will attend the European Council summit.
“We will support Ukraine every step of the way towards our Union,” Von der Leyen tweeted, echoing the recent comments by European Council President Charles Michel.
