Tunisia – EXCLUSIVE: Parties request PM Mechichi to avoid a clash

As Tunisie Numerique declared last night, Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, met tonight in Kasbah palace with representatives of the parties forming his political support in the parliament .

On the program, The proposals of all these parties, in relationship with the crisis between Kasbah and Carthage, concerning the cabinet reshuffle were addressed. Consequently, present at the meeting with Mechichi were representatives of Ennahdha, 9alb Tounes, National Reform, Tahya Tounes and the bloc chaired by Ridha Charfeddine.

According to sources close to this meeting, Mechichi listened more than he talked. He was interested to absorb the positions of each party from his political support. It is, in fact, a room for manoeuvre in the period to come and the stances were quite different, but they all united, more or less, on the necessity to procrastinate and seek until the end, to avoid confrontation with the Presidency of the Republic.

Hence, Ennahdha and 9alb Tounes were the most incisive. Clearly, they could not let this chance pass to settle their score with Saïed who does not carry them in his heart., therefore, they suggested to Mechichi to wait, a little longer, if the President of the Republic did not return positive feelings, otherwise, they advised him to pass in force.

On the other hand, president of the National Reform parliamentary group Hsouna Nasfiand Ridha Charfeddine sought to be the voice of reason and advised Mechichi to attempt everything to locate common ground with Saïed, and avoid “extreme solutions” as much as possible.

Tahya Tounes’s representative was more pacific, prompting Mechichi to avoid confrontation with Carthage, and do everything to obtain common ground with him. and that he had to seek a rapprochement with Carthage, far from the influence and pressure of parties or MPs.

And Mechichi appears to have understood the message since at the conclusion of the meeting he decided to give himself a little more time, and goodwill, to find common ground with Kaïs Saïed, and subdue this blockage, without resorting to forced passage or confrontation.
