Tunisia-Freeze on funds linked to Ben Ali extended by Canada

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad declared on March 25, 2021, that the Canadian Official Journal issued, on March 17, 2021, an order prolonging the deadlines for freezing the property of many members of the family of former President Ben Ali located on Canadian soil for a supplementary period of 5 years, from March 24, 2021.
The extension order will guarantee the continued freezing of funds and property looted on Canadian soil and will provide Tunisian justice with a new deadline to continue collaboration with the competent Canadian authorities in order to retrieve them.
The same source added that this is part of the implementation of the directions of the President of the Republic, Kais Saied to continually monitor the case of the recovery of the money stolen abroad.
