Tunisia- Amen Allah Messadi: Most patients who require ICU admission end up dying

Member of the Scientific Committee Amen Allah Messadi announced that a meeting of the committee is programmed for today to introduce new recommendations to combat the pandemic more efficiently.

These proposals will be sent to the Minister of Health who in turn will send them to the Presidency of the Government, he added.

Mr Messadi pointed out that ICU spaces are a tremendous problem, indicating that most patients who require to be admitted end up dying while waiting for their turn.

Indeed, the occupancy rate now surpasses 90% and this percentage is changing daily, according to Amen Allah Messadi who stated that increasingly younger patients are being admitted to these services.

Faced with this, the lack of resources and staff only worsens the situation, consequently the importance of taking drastic measures, he added.
