Tunisia-Marsa: A street sign angers Tunisians

Tunisian internet users shared a photo of a street sign in Marsa on social networks.

This plaque shows that the street is called after the Iraqi poet Badr Shakir al-Sayyab, although the sign had numerous linguistic mistakes not only in Latin letters but also in Arabic, beginning with his name written “Bader”, but also his last name “Essaieb” in Arabic was written “أسايب” instead of “السيّاب”.

Some have called this error a scandal and a cultural crime, calling on the Chief of the Commune of La Marsa, Moez Bouraoui to apologize and correct it.
