Tunisia-Maher Medhioub calls on the US Congress to set up a Marshall plan in Tunisia

In a correspondence addressed yesterday to the U.S Congress, information and communication officer of the dissolved Parliament Maher Medhioub highlighted the human rights violations documented in the period following “the coup d’etat ” of July 25. The same source condemned the appearance of civilians before military tribunals and the demonization of Tunisian MPs, revealing that the latter have been wronged in their rights.

Medhioub, in the same context, called on the United States Congress to continue to exercise pressure to suspend the legal proceedings against 121 deputies, emphasising that their accusations are punishable by the death penalty in accordance with article 72 of the Constitution. He likewise requested the help of American parliamentarians to organize a Tunisian national dialogue and to call on the President of the Republic Kais Saïed to put an end to the exceptional measures

The signatory of the correspondence likewise called for the implementation of a Marshall project in Tunisia in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries of Tunisia as well as financial institutions in order to develop a new vision capable of saving the country.
