Algeria: Tunisians sentenced to prison for smuggling

The president of the Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights, Mustapha Abdelkébir, called on the Tunisian authorities on Mosaique FM to interfere in favour of the eight Tunisian convicted to 10 years in prison for trafficking food products, by the Algerian justice of Tébessa who, according to him, did not respect the principles of a fair trial.

Abdelkébir considers that the trial should not focus on smuggling, because it was on a legal course, on a bus and the quantities were not important. “This trial was to concentrate on a customs officer and not smuggling,” he said.
