Algerian singer Idir passed away aged 70 at the Bichât hospital in Paris,media reports said.
Idir was born in Ath Yenni, a Berber erber village in Haute-Kabylie.
An acclaimed singer in Kabyle genre, he used his vocals and acoustic guitar to claim his Berber (Amazigh) identity.
