Luigi Brugnaro, mayor of Venice, Italy, revealed on Tuesday that a bus fell from a bridge on the mainland near Mestre, resulting in “at least 20 dead, but it is a number destined to climb.”
“A terrible tragedy has struck our community this evening. I immediately arranged the city mourning, in memory of the many victims who were in the fallen bus. An apocalyptic scene, there are no words,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
