The United States House of Representatives voted in motion to remove Kevin McCarthy as its speaker in the first event of that sort in the country’s history.
The request to vote on the removal, filed by Matt Gaetz, the member of the House from Florida’s 1st district, received 216 in favour and 210 against. Eight Republicans voted against their party fellow McCarthy.
