Beirut blast: 300,000 people displaced, says Governor

The governor of Lebanon’s Beirut, Marwan Abboud, announced on Wednesday that the assessment of losses prompted by the blast which shook the capital varies between $3 billion and $5 billion, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.
“I think there are between 250,000 and 300,000 people who are now without homes,” Abboud stated.

Engineers and special teams have yet to carry an official evaluation, he said, adding that damage from the blast in the port area seems to have extended over half of the city.
